But the numbers tell a very different story. The Brennan Center’s authoritative and reliable analyses show that crime rates have declined substantially since the early 1990s, with crime in America’s largest cities (both the overall crime rate and the violent crime rate) remaining at or near historic lows.
Federal Bureau of Investigation’ s (FBI) violent and property crime indexes fell 34 and 29 percent, respectively, over that same period. These declines occurred essentially without warning: leading experts were predicting an explosion in crime in the early and mid-1990s, precisely the point when crime rates began to plunge.

Oct 02, 2019 · The FBI released 2018 crime stats this week based on information APD provided in February and released to the public shortly after that.
